Measurements

Everyone’s body is unique, therefore, almost no one will fit perfectly into the gown. Please locate a local reliable alterations person to custom fit your gown.

When taking your measurements, please be accurate. DO NOT use the measurements you “hope” to be by the wedding. It is much safer to order the size you are now and have the gown taken in. It is almost impossible to let out a gown to fit and some of the fabrics used would leave marks where the seams had been. Take your measurements in normal undergarments in front of a full length mirror.

Tape measure should be snug but not taut and horizontal to the floor.

Bust - around fullest part.
Hi bust - above bust line, under arms
Low bust - under bust, against rib cage
Bustpoint - length from shoulder seam to center of bust
Frontwaist - length from shoulder seam to waistline, over bust; see above
Waist - at natural waistline, not where you wear your pants
Hips - at fullest part, buttocks, @ is a length from waistline to hip line
Skirt (w/shoes) - length from waistline to floor
Backwaist - from bone at nape of neck to waistline
Shoulders - from shoulder to shoulder
Arm Circ. - around relaxed upper arm at fullest part
Underarm length - from armpit to wrist with a straight arm
Wrist - circumference around wrist

How to Choose your Size

If your measurements do not match exactly (and they probably won’t), please order your gown by the largest measurement.

There is no standardization in women’s clothing, so please use the size chart provided here and not the size of your favorite store bought garment. The gown you order from us will be made to fit the measurements listed here. If you feel daunted by taking your own measurements, find a qualified alterations person in your area to take them for you. If you are still unsure, please contact us.

Should you have fitting issues (large bust for example) or special needs (wheelchair considerations for example), we can accommodate you for an additional charge. Please contact us to discuss your needs.

How to Find a Qualified Alterations Person

The absolute best way to find a reputable and talented person to fit your gown and perform the alterations is by recommendation from someone who was happy with their work. The next best method is to visit your local fabric store and ask to see their list of seamstresses and dressmakers. Always ask to see some of the person’s work. Be sure they are comfortable and skilled in working on the fabrics used in your gown.
